EARLY VOTING CONCLUDES WITH TURNOUT OF NEARLY 2,400

  

Early voting has wrapped up for the slate of elections this Saturday.

According to Washington County Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, Tuesday saw the highest single-day total of early voters at 595, up from the previous high mark of 459 on Monday. 

Tuesday’s voter tally includes 586 participants in the Brenham ISD trustee election, 260 in the City of Brenham council and charter amendment elections, 147 in the emergency services district (ESD) election for the Chappell Hill and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments, and nine in the City of Burton council election.

Broken down by ward in the City of Brenham, 111 residents from Ward 3 voted on Tuesday, 75 from Ward 1, 48 from Ward 4 and 26 from Ward 2.

Through six days of early voting, 2,393 people came to the ballot box, consisting of 2,349 voting for Brenham ISD, 1,057 for the City of Brenham, 589 for the ESD proposal and 44 for the City of Burton.

Per registered voter totals provided before the start of early voting, there are 22,707 registered voters that can participate in Saturday’s elections, including 22,431 in Brenham ISD, 10,353 for the City of Brenham, 3,454 for the ESD and 277 for the City of Burton.

Now that early voting has concluded, anyone who still intends to vote will need to wait until Saturday and go to their designated polling place, based on their voting precinct. 

Election Day polling locations are the Washington County Expo Event Center, Friedens Church of Washington, Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, Brenham VFW Hall, Blinn College Student Center, and – for City of Burton residents – Burton City Hall.  Polls will be open on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
