IOLA MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR MASS SHOOTING IN BRYAN
An Iola man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison for a fatal workplace shooting at Kent Moore Cabinets in Bryan.
A Brazos County jury found 31-year-old Larry Bollin guilty last week for the murder of Timothy Smith in the shooting on April 8, 2021. On Monday, the jury handed down the life sentence and a $10,000 fine.
During the trial, jurors learned that Bollin concealed a handgun in his lunch cooler that he took to work at Kent Moore Cabinets. He proceeded to open fire in the warehouse, killing Smith and wounding five others before fleeing to his home in Grimes County.
The jury deliberated for about an hour and a half on Bollin’s punishment, after taking less than an hour to find him guilty. Bollin will be eligible for parole after 30 years.
Bollin is expected to be tried later this year in Grimes County in connection to the shooting of a DPS trooper who was trying to arrest him at his home. Sergeant Juan Tovar lost an eye as a result of the shooting.
