morning as the police department's new chief.

Surrounded by family members and colleagues from his previous law enforcement agencies, Boshears received the oath of office this (Monday) morning in a ceremony at Brenham City Hall.  He joins Brenham from the City of Lago Vista, where he had served as police chief since September 2022, and has close to 25 total years of experience in the profession, which also included time as the police chief for the City of Granite Shoals.

Boshears says his priorities for serving the public include maintaining ethics and honor, being open with how the department runs, and operating in a manner that demonstrates high quality.

Boshears says the opportunity for professional growth and development was a factor in his decision to come to Brenham, but his family played a large role, as he says they enjoyed the area whenever visiting and that his children plan to settle in and around the region.

A focus for Boshears at the current moment is getting the police department up to full staff and coming up with innovative recruiting methods.  He intends to maintain a community-driven police department and welcomes feedback from citizens on how to better the quality of life in Brenham.

Boshears has earned appointments to the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s Community Policing Committee and the Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Legislative Committee.  He has received a Leadership Command designation and an Executive Certificate in Strategic Leadership.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Phoenix, and is working toward a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership.

Outside of law enforcement, Boshears formerly served as a member of the board of trustees for Marble Falls ISD and the board of the Marble Falls Education Foundation.

Boshears fills the role once held by Lloyd Powell, who retired from the police chief position this past spring.  David Gott had been serving as the interim chief since April.
