WILL THE EXPO RODEO ARENA BE READY FOR THE WASHINGTON CO. FAIR?

Anyone driving past the rodeo arena at the Washington County Expo has probably noticed that it is unfinished.  County officials, however, say they are confident that the arena will be ready in time for the Washington County Fair next month.

Presently less than half of the fencing is complete around the rodeo arena, and the old grandstands on the west side are gone.  Washington County Commissioner Dustin Majewski tells KWHI that the new fencing, livestock chutes and gates will be ready when the Fair kicks off September 13th

Majewski says the fencing was ordered for the “still to be built” new covered arena, and the decision was made to go ahead and use it on the current arena.  However, due to sizing differences, the new chutes and gates were not the right size for the old arena.  An additional $10,000 was spent to order some that would fit, and they are expected to be installed soon.  Majewski says the County also took this opportunity to level the dirt inside the arena in order to improve drainage.

Harrison Williams, Director of the Expo Center, also says that everything will be ready to host the 157th Washington County Fair.
