BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON HOMESCHOOL STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN UIL EVENTS
The Brenham School Board will meet on Monday for the third time this month.
The regular session agenda will consist of a financial update, action on an amendment to the 2024-25 district budget, and consideration of grant-funded vendor contracts.
Among the items on the routine consent agenda are updates to local policies following the 89th Legislature. The updates, pertaining to admissions and student activities, come following the passage of Senate Bill 401, which relates to the participation of homeschool students in University Interscholastic League (UIL) events.
Through the new law, school trustees have the option of adopting a policy to opt out of allowing homeschool student participation in league activities. Districts must decide whether to opt out by September 1st.
The board will meet Monday at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
