WASHINGTON MAN KILLED AFTER VEHICLE FALLS FROM BRIDGE

A Washington man was killed in an accident Monday night after his vehicle fell off of a bridge.

The accident occurred a few minutes after 10:45 p.m. at FM 1155 and Copelyn Springs Road.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 was traveling northbound on FM 1155 when it ran off the road to the right, causing the truck to strike and straddle the bridge over New Year’s Creek.  The truck then fell off of the bridge and landed on its roof.

Sgt. Ruiz reported that driver inattention is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the accident.

The driver, identified as 65-year-old Charles Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.
