Prenzler has been serving in the position since being appointed in March, after the retirement of longtime County Clerk Beth Rothermel.  He began his tenure in the office in 2020 as a deputy clerk before being promoted to assistant chief deputy and chief deputy.

A Brenham native, Prenzler graduated from Brenham High School in 2012 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and History from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016.  During college, he interned for Lois Kolkhorst in both the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate.

Prenzler says he has emphasized transparency, modernization and accessibility since his appointment as county clerk, and that his campaign will focus on continuing modernization efforts and ensuring that every resident has easy, reliable access to the services and records they need.

Currently, Prenzler says he is leading a major software transition designed to streamline operations and improve public access to county records.  He has also implemented policy and procedural reforms with the intent of better serving local residents.

Prenzler says, “It has been an honor to serve the people of Washington County.  As County Clerk, I’ve worked to make our office more efficient, more accessible, and more responsive to the needs of our community. I’m running to continue that work and to build on the progress we’ve made.”
