TWO TREES TO BE REMOVED SUNDAY FROM WASHINGTON CO. COURTHOUSE LAWN
Two oak trees on the south side of the Washington County Courthouse lawn will soon be coming down.

south side of the Washington County Courthouse
will be coming down on Sunday, after an arborist
found them to have major decay and root damage.
Washington County officials announced via social media that two Shumard Oaks facing Alamo Street, one next to the gazebo on the southwest corner of the square and another near the southeast corner, will be removed on Sunday.
According to the county, the two trees have been declining in health and were determined by an arborist to have “significant decay and root damage.” The county said removing the trees is “necessary for everyone’s safety”, but as part of its courthouse restoration project, replacement trees will be considered.
Crews will begin their work on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. and expect to wrap up within 4 hours.
Travelers should prepare for possible street closures on Alamo and South Park Streets while the removal is occurring. Detour signage will be posted if necessary.
