BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO HOST TxDOT FOR DISCUSSION ON IMPROVEMENTS TO SOUTH DAY STREET, HIGHWAY 36

The Brenham City Council on Thursday will review possible traffic mitigation solutions on the south side of town, along Business 36 and Highway 36.

During a work session, city staff and representatives from TxDOT will give a presentation on a proposal for improved traffic flow and access management along the South Day Street corridor and Highway 36, from the feeder road to Wood Ridge Boulevard.

The city and TxDOT have received public feedback about the need to address connectivity and traffic flow in the area, which has a large concentration of business establishments.  Per the agenda packet for the meeting, the proposed plan emphasizes safety and incorporates public feedback, including a dedicated left-turn option from H-E-B, while minimizing excessive traffic movements on Business 36.

In regular session, councilmembers will potentially purchase two pickup trucks from LaRoche Chevrolet for the Parks Department, in the amount of $85,614.  They will also consider a resolution to accept public infrastructure improvements for Phase 7 of the Vintage Farms subdivision.

An executive session will be held to discuss the possible purchase, exchange or acquisition of real property for Electric Department improvements and facilities.  No action is scheduled to be taken.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
