COMMUNITY GIVES BACK AT KBTX FOOD FOR FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE

Local and area residents came together on Wednesday to support friends and neighbors in need at the 30th Annual KBTX Food for Families Food Drive.

Washington County Expo.

Each year, the food drive benefits the Brazos Valley Food Bank and its partner agencies.  Seven drop-off locations were open for food and monetary contributions, including the Washington County Expo food court in Brenham.

Organizers say the Washington County event brought in 13,243 pounds of food and $13,775 in monetary donations, breaking the drive’s previous records for both.  Online donations are still being calculated.

In a social media post, Washington County food drive coordinators thanked all those who participated, saying they are “overwhelmed with gratitude for this incredible community.”

businesses and organizations to support the food
drive.

All donations stay local to the county they are donated in.  For Washington County, contributions will support Bread Partners of Washington County, Faith Mission & Help Center, Prairie Hill Food Pantry, Burton Bridge Ministry and Washington Mobile Pantry.

Other participating counties included Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison and Robertson counties.  Final totals from those counties continue to be tallied, but KBTX announced that they have collected over 100,000 pounds of food and over $200,000 so far.
