John Joe Rigsby graduated with honors from Marine boot camp in San Diego, California and was the head of his platoon, earning the title of The Guide.

The platoon honor graduate award is presented to “the one Marine in their platoon who has demonstrated the highest degree of discipline, proficiency, bearing, physical fitness, and basic leadership traits that exemplify the highest standards of the United States Marine Corps”.

Rigsby is a member of Brenham High School’s Class of 2024 and was a multi-sport athlete in football, powerlifting and track.  After attending Texas Lutheran University and playing with the Bulldog football team for a season, he started Marine boot camp on September 15th.

According to Rigsby’s family, he will next participate in combat training for a month at Camp Pendleton in Southern California.  From there, he will utilize his accounting major at his next station, which his family says could be in North Carolina or overseas.
