BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL WITH TASB
The Brenham School Board is set to revisit its membership with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) on Monday.
Trustees will consider an item to potentially renew membership with TASB, a topic that has been met with spirited discussion the past two times it has come before the board.
In 2023 and 2024, board members voted on whether to stay with TASB or join an alternative group, Texans for Excellence in Education (TEE). Both times, the board chose to remain a member of TASB after a 5-2 vote.
Monday’s agenda only includes an item for the TASB membership and does not call for any action on possibly joining a different group.
Other items for the board include a financial update, an update to policies impacted by the 89th Legislative Session, a required annual investment policy review and potential adoption of a resolution for the review of investment policy and strategies. Additionally, a public hearing will be held on the possible purchase of library books before taking a vote on approving the purchase.
Trustees will recognize the region-qualifying Brenham Junior High Band and state finalist Brenham High School Band, hear a presentation from the Brenham High School Choir. They will also consider a monetary donation from H-E-B and go over the results of the Washington County food drive held earlier this month at the Washington County Expo.
The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
