Today’s preview concludes the look at the race for Precinct 3 county commissioner with Chad Dismukes, who is running against Gil Janner for the seat coming open due to Kirk Hanath’s decision to run for county judge.

Dismukes has over two decades of experience in local government and emergency services, including with Washington County EMS, the Brenham Fire Department, and his current role as Assistant Fire Chief of Operations with the Katy Fire/EMS Department.  He has also been a longtime volunteer with Washington County emergency services and the Washington County Fair.

Dismukes says the needs of the citizens come first, and that comes through addressing staffing levels at the sheriff’s office for public safety, keeping county roads in good shape, and creating apparatus and equipment replacement plans for all departments to help offset major budgetary expenses and not have them stack up.  He also wants to improve the level of support provided for volunteer firefighters.

Dismukes believes in leaving the county “better than we found it” and in using a cohesive, team-focused approach in order to work toward common goals.

KWHI is asking each candidate questions about what they believe to be the main responsibilities of the office they are pursuing, their thoughts on the primary issues to tackle, and how to improve the functions of the office and the county as a whole.

Early voting begins on Tuesday, February 17th.  Election Day is Tuesday, March 3rd
