The City of Brenham issued a press release today (Tuesday) stating that Miller intends to retire on March 25th, concluding 21 years of service to the city and a 45-year professional career.

Miller joined the city in May 2005 and has served in leadership roles including finance director, chief financial officer, assistant city manager, and as city manager since September 2021.

Miller originally announced plans to retire in December 2023, citing a desire to spend more time with family.  However, she agreed at the request of Mayor Atwood Kenjura and the city council to keep serving as city manager as the city navigated several major projects and leadership changes.  One of those projects, the Brenham Fire Department’s second fire station, is on track for completion in April.

Kenjura said, “Carolyn’s extended time as City Manager has provided stability and strong leadership during a period of significant transition for our City.  The Council and I are grateful for her willingness to stay and see major projects through completion while helping prepare the organization for the future.”

The city council has called a special meeting on Monday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall, where it will meet in executive session to discuss Miller’s retirement and the transition to a new city manager.
