WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO POTENTIALLY ADOPT UPDATED SUBDIVISION MANUAL

Washington County Commissioners will hold a public hearing and vote on Tuesday about proposed updates to the county’s subdivision and development regulations and its design and construction standards.

Commissioners held a workshop in December to review how the county currently handles housing and subdivision developments, as well as how it could alter its procedures to better take into account the growth experienced by the county.

Topics addressed at the workshop included the platting process, right-of-way dedication, fire suppression requirements, public water and wastewater design specifications, outlines for detention pond calculations, and migrating from using chipseal for roads toward asphalt and concrete.

Following possible adoption of the new regulations and standards manual, commissioners will vote on the Engineering and Development Services fee schedule.

In other business, commissioners will act on potentially designating the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace conference room on the west side of the Washington County Expo Annex building as an additional courtroom location for district court proceedings, as needed.

The county has been looking into an off-site location to hold court proceedings while construction continues at the courthouse.  Discussion has centered on using the Commercial Exhibits/Country Creations building at the Expo.  County Judge John Durrenberger told KWHI that the conference room was requested by the district judges and that the Country Creations building was still under consideration to be used as a courtroom, once it meets necessary standards.

Commissioners will later consider accepting donations of $650 and $400 from Franke Automotive and the Washington County Democratic Club, respectively, and establishing a special donation fund to receive and administer donations for the benefit of the E911 Department.  The department is seeking donations to show appreciation for dispatchers as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 12-18.

Also in court, commissioners will:

  • Receive a presentation of the tax phase-in compliance review committee report for 2025, regarding current tax phase-in agreements.
  • Receive a presentation of the delinquent tax, fine and fee collection report by Leslie Schkade with Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
