The MCJROTC Reapers earned top honors in both the Unarmed and Armed Divisions at the Marine Corps National Drill Championship on Saturday at Colquitt County High School in Norman Park, Georgia. This was the Reapers’ 10th consecutive appearance at nationals.

The Unarmed Division placed first in regulation, exhibition and color guard, along with second in inspection.  Individually, Jackie Salinas took first place for the knockout championship, and Valeria Alfaro was second place for outstanding regulation commander.

The Armed Division took first place in regulation, second place in inspection and color guard, and fourth in exhibition.  Emma Allen placed second as a knockout finalist, while Allison Mendoza earned first place as outstanding regulation commander.

Brenham ISD says with these victories, the Reapers not only achieved back-to-back national championships in both the Unarmed and Armed Divisions, but have become the first school in MCJROTC history to win national championships three times.

Senior Marine Instructor Captain Jeffrey Bayse said, “This team’s success is the result of countless hours of preparation, attention to detail, and a commitment to something greater than themselves.”  He added, “Our cadets hold themselves to an incredibly high standard, and they continue to rise to the challenge every time they step onto the floor.  I couldn’t be more proud of how they represent Brenham High School and our community.”

Superintendent Clay Gillentine said, “We are incredibly proud of this program and these students for representing Brenham with excellence on the national stage.  Their discipline, leadership, and teamwork embody the very best of what we hope to instill in all of our students.”

The Reapers will conclude their competitive season when they travel to Daytona Beach, Florida for the SNI All-Service National Competition from April 30 – May 5th.

Anyone who is interested in sponsoring a cadet or contributing toward a national championship ring is welcome to show their support by dropping off a check at Brenham High School or mailing it to P.O. Box 1147, Brenham, TX 77834.
