37TH ANNUAL BURTON COTTON GIN FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Visitors will be flocking to Burton this weekend for the 37th Annual Cotton Gin Festival.
The Cotton Gin Festival kicks off on Saturday with the parade through Downtown Burton beginning at 10am. They will also have a children’s bicycle parade as part of the event as well.
The music lineup features Robert and Kasey Zientek from 11am-1pm, followed by the Bayou City Groove from 1-2:30pm, Ella B Fiddle and Robert Herridge from 2:30-4pm, and the Brown Sugar Band from 4-6pm.
Following the parade, the Antique Engine and Tractor Show, and the tractor pull competition get underway at 11am.
According to Burton Cotton Gin Museum Director Steph Jarvis, speaking on the KWHI Community Corner this past Tuesday, they are expecting over 40 arts and crafts vendors, as well as nine food vendors for the festival.
Other activities will include gin tours, a classic car display, and folk life demonstrations like blacksmithing, spoon carving, and butter churning.
At 12:15pm, they are going to begin the bubble gum blowing, cotton seed pulling, and pie eating contests.
The main attraction occurs at 3pm with the firing up of the historic 112-year-old Cotton Gin and ginning out cotton bales.
