PANTHER BASEBALL CLINCHES DISTRICT TITLE WITH A WIN OVER MILANO
The Burton Panther Baseball Team went into Milano last (Friday) night looking to clinch the District 26-2A title, and they did it with a resounding 14-0 win over the Eagles.
The Panthers erupted for ten runs in the second inning and four in the third inning to make quick work of Milano.
In the second inning, the key hits included a two-run double and an RBI single by Archer Fuller, a two-run double by Rueben Rodriguez, an RBI single by Ryder Biggs, an RBI double by Eli Jaeger, and an RBI single by Matthew Roemer.
In the third inning, the Panthers scored on a two-run single by Jaeger, and a two-run single by Isaac Matthies.
Jaeger got the win on the hill. He threw three no-hit innings. Milano's only base runner as a hit batter in the second inning.
Burton is now 20-3 on the season, and 9-1 in district. They will wrap up the regular season with two games against Round Top-Carmine. While RT-C plays all the teams in the district, they are considered a 1A team, when it comes time for the playoffs, so their results are not figured into the final standings.
