BELLVILLE MAN KILLED IN AN AUSTIN COUNTY WRECK
A three-vehicle crash on State Highway 36 resulted in one person being killed on Monday morning in Austin County.
According to DPS Sgt. Stephen Woodard, just after 8:30am, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a crash on Highway 36 just north of Loop 497 in Kenney.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2026 Freightliner truck-tractor towing a utility trailer was traveling southbound on Highway 36 when the driver failed to control speed due to wet roadway conditions.
The vehicle hydroplaned, crossed into the northbound lanes, and collided with a 2023 Ford F-350 traveling northbound.
The impact caused the trailer being towed to separate and overturn onto the Ford pickup.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 68-year-old Curtis Allen Ford of Bellville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 35-year-old Ernest Nduwamungu of Jacksonville, Florida, was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Brenham for treatment.
Sgt. Woodard said that the crash is under a further investigation.
