WEEK ONE OF EARLY VOTING IN BURTON CITY COUNCIL ELECTION WRAPS UP

  

The first week of early voting in the Burton City Council Election wrapped up on Friday.

According to Washington County Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, 54 people have now cast their ballots in the election.

Previously, 12 voters cast their ballots early on Monday, 15 voters cast their ballots early on Wednesday,10 more cast their ballots on Thursday and 17 cast their ballots on Friday. There was no early voting on Tuesday due to the San Jacinto Day state holiday.

Three council incumbents, Tommie Gilmon, Jeff Eckhardt and Macey Tidwell, are challenged respectively by Sheila Ripple, Charly Ruemke and Berneake Gantt. 

Voters will have two more days to early vote in the election.

The Burton City Hall is the designated early voting location, which continues  Monday and Tuesday. Early voting hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. 

Voting for Election Day is next Saturday, May 2nd  also at Burton City Hall, with hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
