CUB GOLF FINISHES 12TH AT STATE TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cub Golf Team wrapped up their two-day appearance at the UIL State Tournament with a 12th place finish.
The State Tournament was held on Monday and Tuesday at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
Prosper Walnut Grove High School ended up with the State Championship.
Luke Alford, a sophomore, led the way for Brenham by shooting a 74 on the first day and then shooting a 75 on the second day. He finished with a combined score of 149.
Holten Gillentine, another sophomore, shot an 83 on the first day. Then, on day two, he shaved seven strokes off of his score to finish with a 76. That gave him a two-day total of 159.
Caleb Klussman, a junior, finished with an 82 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 166.
Freshman Max Felder was one stroke behind Klussmann. He had scores of 84 and 83, which gave him a score of 167 over the two-day period.
Rounding out the Brenham team scores was Senior Levi Dupont, who finished with an 84 on the first day and an 88 on the second day to finish at 172.
Earlier this season, the Cubs won the District 17-5A Title, and later won the Regional Tournament.
Next up, for the Brenham Golf Program, Cubette Sophomore Raylea Kunkel is taking part in the Girls State Golf Tournament, which runs next week Monday and Tuesday (May 4-5) in Georgetown.
Kunkel made the State tournament for the second straight season after finishing as an individual medalist at Regionals this year.
