The fifth-ranked Blinn College baseball team will begin its postseason journey this week as it hosts the Region 14 South Regional Tournament for the fourth consecutive season at Leroy Dreyer Field.

The Buccaneers (40-12), fresh off their Region 14 South regular-season title, enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed and will face fourth-seeded Paris Junior College — the North division’s fourth-place team — at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The four-team, double-elimination tournament features the first- and third-place teams from the South Division, along with the second- and fourth-place finishers from the North. In the other opening-round matchup, second-seeded Tyler Junior College will take on third-seeded San Jacinto College-North at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Play continues Friday with an elimination game at 2 p.m., followed by a semifinal matchup between Thursday’s winners at 6 p.m. Another elimination contest is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, with the championship game scheduled for 6 p.m. that evening. If necessary, a winner-take-all championship game will be played on Sunday.

All games will be played at Leroy Dreyer Field in Brenham. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, and only cash will be accepted. Admission is free for children under 10 and college students with a valid student ID. Tickets are $5 for senior citizens (60 and older) and children ages 10-18, and $10 for adults.

The winner of the Region 14 South Regional Tournament will advance to the Region 14 Super Regional, where it will face the North Regional champion in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday, May 14. The super regional will be hosted by the higher seed, with equally seeded teams playing at a neutral site. The winner advances to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series.
