For the second time in three years, the Brenham Anglers are sending a team to the Texas High School Bass Association State Tournament.

Kenner Mantey and Cole Meier, along with their captain Patrick Mantey, qualified for State after finishing in 27th place at the Regional Tournament this past Saturday at Lake Conroe.

They were able to meet the State qualifying requirements by catching the maximum five fish, and by finishing among the top 30% of teams in the field.

Mantey and Meier caught five fish totaling 13.17 pounds.

They become the second Brenham Angler duo to advance to State in the past three years. The first was the duo of Trayce Babich and Joseph Quezada, along with captain Shayne Babich, in 2024.

Babich and Quezada also competed at Regionals this year. However, they were unable to meet the qualifications for State. They caught two fish for a combined weight of 6.27 pounds.

Meanwhile, Brenham's third team at Regionals, Brycen Gaertner and Bryce Siemsgluez, along with Captain Kenneth Gaertner, just missed qualifying as well. They caught three fish for a combined weight of 8.85 pounds.

The three Brenham teams caught a combined ten fish totaling 28.29 pounds, which was good for 18th place out of the 52 schools that sent teams to compete.

Mantey and Meier now move on the State Tournament, which runs May 30-31 at Lake Texoma.
