WASHINGTON COUNTY 4TH GRADERS TAKE PART IN AG DAY

Local 4th grade students spent the day recently at the Washington County Fairgrounds during the annual Ag Day gathering.

There were 12 stations located across the entire fairgrounds, where 4-H &  FFA leaders led groups of over 300 students in visiting with local presenters.

Ag Day is sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Washington County Farm Bureau.

The presenters spoke on a variety of subjects including corn, equine, farm safety, cotton, entomology, beef, swine, nature bingo, bees, vet science, poultry, lamb & goat.

Each station provided hands-on learning for the students.

A beef hotdog lunch was prepared by the Washington County Cattlewomen, with Blue Bell Ice Cream for dessert.

The Ag Day event has been held locally for decades during the month of May.

Washington County Farm Bureau President Larry Winkelmann and Texas AgriLife Extension Agent Stephanie Rudolph gave credit for the program’s success to the presenters who were happy to share their knowledge.
