SALES TAX HOLIDAY THIS WEEKEND FOR WATER/ENERGY-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS

  

Texas shoppers will be able to save on purchases of water-efficient and energy-efficient products this weekend.

The state’s Water-Efficient Products and ENERGY STAR® sales tax holiday runs Saturday through Monday, offering tax-free purchases of items displaying a WaterSense® label or ENERGY STAR® logo.  There is no limit to the number of qualifying items that can be purchased tax-free.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office estimates shoppers will save $15.7 million in state and local sales tax during the holiday.

Water-efficient products that will be tax-exempt during the holiday include showerheads, bathroom sink faucets and fixtures, landscape irrigation controls, and lawn and garden products that help conserve water outdoors.

Qualifying energy-efficient products include air conditioners priced at or under $6,000, refrigerators costing $2,000 or less, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dishwashers, dehumidifiers and clothes washers.
