Earlier this month, the “Rock the Country” event at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville saw a new Guinness World Record set by an unlikely participant.

Pauline Kana, who will be celebrating her 100th birthday in August, set the World Record for “the Oldest Person to Ever Crowd Surf at a Concert.”

Kana was 99 years, and 274 days old at the time that she set the new record.

In a video that has gone viral, Kana, who has been nicknamed “Gangster Granny”, was placed on a stretcher, and proceeded to be lifted up, and surf the crowd of 20,000 fans during the Brantley Gilbert portion of the concert.

The video was submitted by her grandson, Ross Smith, who thanked the festival people for helping to make that happen for her.

Smith said that he stills gets chills every time he hears the crowd chanting, “Granny! Granny!”
