NEW VOLLEYBALL COACH CYDNEY MARLOW HOLDS FIRST INFORMATION MEETING

New Brenham Cubette Head Volleyball Coach Cydney Marlow had the chance to introduce herself to parents and players at a special informational meeting last (Wednesday) night at the Brenham High School Gym.

Marlow comes to Brenham after having coached at Manor High School last year, and at Smithville High School prior to that. She also has extensive experience coaching club teams in the Austin area, which included some players on the Burton Lady Panthers.

Coach Marlow told KWHI that she is very excited about being in Brenham.

Marlow told the story of coming to a Brenham Cub baseball game with her husband, Brooks, who is from Giddings, and a former Texas Longhorn standout. She said just noticing the atmosphere and enthusiasm from the fans made Brenham a place she wanted to coach at some day.

When the Head Volleyball Coaching position came open, she was encouraged to apply for it by her athletic director in Manor at the time, former Brenham Cub Baseball Coach Lanny Williams.

On her coaching philosophy, Marlow talked about making sure the players start with doing the little things right, and how that will translate into wins and championships.

She also plans on including both the Middle School and the Junior High School being a part of the process with players and coaches interacting with each other.

In addition to that, Marlow is big on academics.

One question that Marlow had been previously asked by parents is if she plans on changing any of the traditions. She said absolutely not.

Tryouts will be held on August 1. Prior to that, there will be a Brenham Cubette Volleyball Camp for Kindergarten through the Ninth Grade, which runs July 22-24.
