EARLY VOTING CLOSES OUT FOR BURTON COUNCIL RUNOFF; ELECTION DAY SATURDAY

Early voting has wrapped up for the Burton City Council runoff election.

According to Washington County Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, five people turned out at Burton City Hall on Tuesday.

That brings the seven-day total for early voting to 94.  As of the May 2nd election, there were 272 registered voters, so early voting turnout for the runoff comes to 34.55 percent.

Early voting for the runoff surpassed that of the May 2nd election.  According to official total and recount numbers, 78 ballots were cast during early voting for that election.  Fifty-three more ballots were counted on Election Day, along with two mail ballots, for a total of 133 votes.

Election Day is Saturday.  Polls will be open at Burton City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
