A&M HEAD TRACK COACH PAT HENRY ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

Texas A&M Head Track & Field Coach Pat Henry is calling it a career.  Henry announced his retirement this (Wednesday) morning after 22 years at Texas A&M and 54 years of coaching.

He started out at Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he led their program to five state championships.

Then, Henry’s college head coaching career began with four years at Blinn College from 1983-1987, where he led the Bucs to two National Championships (1986-1987). He was also a two-time NJCAA Coach of the Year.

After Blinn, Henry went to LSU, where he won 27 National Championships from 1988-2004.

While at Texas A&M, he won ten more National Championships, six on the Men’s side, and four on the Women’s side.

His 37 NCAA National Championships ranked him third all-time.

Henry was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

He’s also going to be celebrating his upcoming 75th birthday next month.
