TWO BURTON PANTHERS NAMED TO THE THSCA SUPER ELITE TEAM
Two members of the Burton Panther Baseball Team have been selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 2A Super Elite Team.
Tyler Witt has been named as the Player of the Year. On the mound, Witt, who is a junior, was 15-0 with a 0.46 ERA. In 90 1/3 innings pitched, he allowed only six earned runs, struck out 131 batters, and held opposing hitters to a .144 batting average.
At the plate, he had a .356 batting average, a .483 on-base percentage, five doubles, five triples, one homer, 17 RBIs, 40 runs scored, and was a perfect 20 for 20 on stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Eli Jaeger won the Gold Glove Award. This past season, in 117 chances, Jaeger only committed two errors, which was good for a.983 fieldling percentage.
At the plate, he had a .532 batting average, a .588 on-base percentage, five doubles, 33 RBIs, 24 runs scored, and drew 13 walks.
As a pitcher, in 52 2/3 innings, he was 7-3, struck out 52 batters, and had a 2.13 ERA, and held opposing hitters to a .201 batting average.
