BRENHAM PD REPORTS ARRESTS FOR ASSAULT, EVIDENCE TAMPERING, POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Brenham police arrested five people between Wednesday and early this (Thursday) morning on charges including assault, evidence tampering and controlled substance possession.

Around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Brayten Rolling and Officer Karime Ortiz responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Windswept Street.  After further investigation, police took 35-year-old Summer Puente of Brenham and 40-year-old Patrick Puente of Brenham into custody.  Both subjects were booked into the Washington County Jail without incident for Assault Family Violence.

At 10 p.m., Officer Eric Crosby conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation near the intersection of South Blue Bell Road and East Stone Street.  During the investigation, police determined that 28-year-old Chevaughn Jarrett of Texas City had allegedly attempted to destroy physical evidence and was in possession of a firearm.  Jarrett was placed under arrest for Tampering with Physical Evidence and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.  Jarrett was transported to the Washington County Jail without incident.

Just before 4 a.m. today, Officer Stephen Mosley stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of Highway 290 West for a traffic violation.  Police say after developing probable cause, they performed a search of the vehicle and its occupants.  The search resulted in the arrest of the driver, 39-year-old Danial Randall Spencer of Austin, and the passenger, 38-year-old Emily Earp of Alvin.  Spencer and Earp were each charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., with Spencer being additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, Less Than a Gram.  Both were transported to the Washington County Jail.
