WANTED FUGITIVE SENTENCED TO PRISON IN GRIMES COUNTY DISTRICT COURT

Jayshan Trussell (Grimes County Jail)

A wanted fugitive, who left the state of Texas rather than appear in court for his hearing, will now be going to prison.

34-year-old Jayshan Anthony Trussell was sentenced in the 506th District Court to 25 years in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony.

The sentence was part of a plea agreement with the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office.

The punishment was enhanced due to Trussell having previous felony convictions.

The initial incident occurred back on July 4, 2023. Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy Gene Osborn stopped a Chevy Malibu driven by Trussell for speeding on Highway 90 just north of Bedias.

A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of multiple bags of marijuana, 13 THC vape pens, and over four grams of methamphetamine pills.

Trussell was indicted, and his case was scheduled to go to trial on July 28, 2025. However, he never showed up.

Then, in February of this year, Trussell was arrested in Dayton, Ohio, and a Governor’s Warrant was obtained in order extradite him back to Texas.

According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, Trussell also has charges pending in Brazos County.
