LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS OF MORE PHONE SCAM CALLS

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has once again been receiving calls from local residents, who have been the victims of phone scams.

Scammers are making calls claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office, and telling members of the public that they have an arrest warrant that needs to be taken care of.

Then, they demand payment over the phone to take care of the warrant.

Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger reminds residents that his office will never call you to demand payment over the phone, or ask for personal information over the phone to resolve a legal matter.

If you receive a call like this, Durrenberger advises you to not provide any personal, or financial information. Instead, hang up the phone, and contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office directly at 979-542-2800 to verify the validity of the information.
