COMMUNITY INVITED TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR JAY PETRASH
A longtime law enforcement official and first responder in Washington County is being honored for half a century of service.

A celebration will be held on Thursday, July 30th for Washington County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jay Petrash, who is marking 50 years in law enforcement. The come-and-go event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham.
Petrash began his career in 1976 as a deputy with the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office in Cotulla. He was hired in 1977 by the Sul Ross State University Police Department, where he served until 1981, when he joined the Brenham Police Department.
Petrash served in all ranks with the Brenham Police Department, including three terms as interim police chief, commander of the Independence Narcotics Task Force, and SWAT commander. He joined the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in 2013 as chief deputy under Sheriff Otto Hanak.
Petrash also served in the Brenham Fire Department as a volunteer from 2006 to 2016, and he continues to support the department as an associate member.
The sheriff’s office invites family, friends, colleagues and community members to celebrate Petrash’s 50 years in public service.
