NO INJURIES, PET RESCUED AFTER MOBILE HOME FIRE BETWEEN BRENHAM & BURTON

  

Multiple Washington County volunteer fire departments battled a mobile home fire in the early morning hours on Sunday between Brenham and Burton.

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department says just after midnight, it responded to a reported structure fire in the 2600 block of Helm Road.  Units from the Burton, Rocky Creek and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched as mutual aid. 

When firefighters arrived, they found a single-wide mobile home with heavy fire on the back porch and the inside of the structure.  The departments attacked the interior in order to stop the spread of the flames. 

The home sustained major damage, but there were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters.  A pet was rescued from the structure and returned to the resident to receive veterinary care.  The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to those impacted by the fire.

Other agencies assisting on scene were Washington County EMS, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County CERT Team.
