The Blinn Buccaneer Athletic Department did not have to look too far to determine who was going to be their new head softball coach.

Earlier today (Tuesday), at the retirement reception for long-time head softball coach Rick Church and head golf coach David Johnson, Blinn made it official by announcing that Church’s assistant coach Jami Ingram will be taking over the program.

Ingram is no stranger to Blinn having been a former player on the Buccaneer Softball Team, and she also has been Church’s assistant coach for the past 21 seasons.

Coach Ingram was born and raised in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.

Ingram began her softball career playing for Church at Blinn College during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. She earned All-Region XIV honors as a freshman and a sophomore. She also was a member of the academic honor roll all four semesters and was tabbed a President’s Scholar in the Spring of 2000.

Ingram continued her softball career at Texas Woman’s University where she started both seasons for the Pioneers and earned numerous accolades. Ingram was named to the school's Hall of Fame in 2012.

She holds an associate degree in kinesiology from Blinn, as well as both a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a teaching certification, and a master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas Women’s University.

During her time working at Blinn with Church, they have received multiple National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Ingram also is a member of the Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen Association.
