18-WHEELER ACCIDENT AMONG FOUR CALLS TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department went out to four calls on Tuesday.
Close to 7:30 a.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Highway 290 East and FM 2447 for a transportation incident with entrapment. They found an 18-wheeler on its driver’s side and removed the windshield to allow the driver to walk out. After helping to control the diesel leak, firefighters cleared the call.
Around 8:15 a.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 900 block of FM 109 for a report of a structure fire. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the home. Firefighters found a bad ballast in the kitchen that caused the smoke, so they advised the homeowner what was found before returning to service.
Just past 1:15 p.m., units were called out for a gas leak in the 500 block of West Chauncy Street. They found a contractor had hit a gas line and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department was able to cap the line off for repairs.
Shortly after 7 p.m., a transportation incident was called in from the 1000 block of East Stone Street. BFD personnel found a two-vehicle accident with no fluids leaking or injuries. They stood by until the roadway was back open.
