SCHULENBURG ISD SHAKES UP THE COACHING RANKS

Schulenburg ISD is shaking up the coaching ranks after a rough start to the season. Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Clay Ferguson appears to be out after just a year and half on the job.

Last year, the Shorthorns were 6-6, and went to the area round of the playoffs, where they lost to Mason 55-14. So far, this season, they are 0-5, and they have been blown out in every game.

Schulenburg ISD Superintendent Lee Hafley sent a letter out to parents on Friday afternoon saying that assistant coach Marty Bigham is going to be the Interim Head Football Coach, and Head Volleyball Coach Donald Zapalac is going to be the Interim Athletic Director.

In the letter Hafley says, "Our focus remains on supporting out student-athletes and coaches and providing stability and continuity for our athletic programs.

Because, this involves a personnel matter the district will not provide additional details at this time."

The Shorthorns were on a bye week this past Friday. They are scheduled to host Thrall this coming Friday night in their district opener.
