CITY COUNCIL APPROVES TRUCK PURCHASE
Brenham City Council approved a number of routine items during their meeting today (Thursday).
Council approved the purchase of a Discharge Spreader Truck for the Water Treatment Plant and a finance plan to pay for it. The $171,000 truck will replace a 1999 model and will be used to spread sludge from the treatment plant on the old landfill property on Old Navasota Road. The purchase will be financed through the Bank of Brenham for 5 years at a 2.5 percent interest rate.
Council also re-nominated 4 existing members to the Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors. Those nominated are: John Schaer, Charles Gaskamp, Johanna Fatheree, and Leslie Boehnemann Jr.
Council approved a Ground Space Lease Agreement with John Schaer III for hanger space at the Brenham Airport. He is planning to construct a 60 x 60 hanger for his own use. They also approved a Noise Variance from St. Mary’s Catholic Church for a fundraiser on Sunday, November 19th.
Council went into executive session to discuss the finalists for the City Manager position. Current city manager Terry Roberts said that no action on the selection was expected and that the council was on track to announce the new city manager at their December 7th meeting.
