TEXAS UNEMPLOYMENT HITS 40 YEAR LOW IN NOVEMBER
Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent in November according to numbers released today (Friday) by the Texas Workforce Commission. The November number marks the lowest unemployment rate for Texas in four decades. The Texas economy added 54,500 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs in November.
In Washington County, the unemployment rate went up slightly in November to 3.7 percent compared to 3.4 percent in October. That is still way below the 4.9 percent recorded in November of 2016. Unemployment was also up slightly in the neighboring counties in November. Brazos County recorded the lowest rate at 2.6 percent while Grimes and Waller Counties had the highest at 4.3 percent.
