CITY COUNCIL APPROVES SEVERAL LARGE PURCHASES
Brenham City Council approved several large purchases today (Thursday). They approved purchasing a Pool Pak System for the Aquatic Center for $674,000. The new system will control the pool temperatures, along with the air temperature and humidity, making the indoor pool areas more pleasant to be in. The system it is replacing was installed when the center was built in 2001 and is costing roughly $25,000 a year to maintain.
Council also approved the purchase of a new High Pressure Jet Truck for the Wastewater Department. The new truck will cost $121,000 and will be used to maintain sewer lines in the city. It replaces a truck that has been in service since 2003.
Council also agreed to reject the 3 bids received for a new Live Floor Trailer for the Sanitation Department. The 3 bids received were higher than the estimated cost, and also did not meet the required specifications for the trailer.
Council also approved a number of routine items including adding the new City Manager as an authorized representative of the city on several agreements. James Fisher officially took over last week form Brenham’s previous City Manager, Terry Roberts.
