ONE DEAD/ONE INJURED IN FAYETTE CO. BLAZE

  

One person is dead and another hospitalized following a fire at a home Wednesday afternoon in Fayette County.

Several departments were called out just before 1:30, to a home on Schuster Road in the Nechanitz area.

Upon arrival, firefighters from the Round Top-Warrenton Department found the home fully engulfed in flames.  Mutual assistance was provided by departments from Carmine, Ledbetter, Fayetteville and LaGrange.

A woman was found dead in the burning home.  A man, who also lived there, was transported to St. Mark’s Medical Center.

The man told authorities the woman went back into the burning home to retrieve some family pets and was unable to get out.

The State Fire Marshall’s office is assisting with the investigation.

Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
