LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HISTORICALLY LOW
The unemployment rate in Washington County is the lowest it’s been in over a decade.
The county’s jobless rate for October was 3.3 percent, the lowest since April of 2008, when the rate was 3.0 percent.
According to Texas Workforce Commission the county’s labor force last month was 14,615, with 488 unemployed.
The September jobless rate was 3.6 percent, with a work force of 14,614 and 524 jobless.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.7 percent in October, down from 3.8 percent in September 2018, and the state’s lowest level since unemployment data began in January of 1976.
