WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER SALES TAX REFUND FOR PLANNED SHOPPING CENTER

Washington County Commissioners are considering signing an agreement that would greatly affect the economic future of Brenham and the county.

Commissioners will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) morning to possibly participate in a sales tax reimbursement agreement with the developers of a new shopping center planned on Highway 290 and Chappell Hill Street in Brenham.

This agreement asks that Baker Katz be reimbursed $6 million in sales taxes, in the form of annual grant payments over a 14-year period. The City of Brenham is currently slated to cover the entire $6 million, but if the county participates, it will contribute $2 million to the city’s $4 million.

Also in court, commissioners will consider:

A memo of agreement between Washington County EMS and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – College Station, to supply EMS with blood products used during patient transport.
Action on a right-of-way permit for the Washington County Rotary Club Bike Ride.
Action on Natural Gas Pipeline’s crossing of Old Mill Creek Road, Boehnemann Road, Adamek Road, and Beckermann Road, as proposed by AMP Intrastate Pipelines, LLC.
Approval of the County Information Resources Agency Services Agreement for technology services from CIRA.
Approval of the ACA Reporting and Tracking Service (2019) renewal confirmation program agreement.
Allowing the County Engineer to award the 2019 annual seal coat bid.
Appointment of John Barton as co-chairman of the Washington County Historical Commission.
A bond for Reserve Deputy Sheriff Damon Wegner.
A subdivision variance request for a land division on Spreen Road in Precinct 3.
An amending plat for Zionsville Estates, a subdivision fronting Helm Road and Maass Road in Precinct 3.
A series of monthly reports.
