LOCAL SENIOR CITIZENS HONORED AT “CELEBRATE OUR SENIORS”
Hundreds gathered at the Washington County Fairgrounds Saturday for the 16th Annual “Celebrate our Seniors” program.
Four local senior citizens were recognized for their contributions to Washington County communities. This year’s honorees were Ivenus Garcia, Esther Mae Hall, Lottie V. Hall, and Robert Mae Johnson. Each honoree was given a plaque to commemorate their service.
The “Bettie E. Garrette Golden Years Award” was also presented to the oldest senior citizen in attendance. The award was given to 99-year-old Ernest Smith.
Everyone in attendance was treated to a barbecue meal and live gospel music from the Original Spiritual Travelers of Houston.
There were also representatives from Golden Years Healthcare to talk with attendees about healthcare information. The afternoon wrapped up with Bingo and prizes.
Congratulations to my friends and excellent nurses !!
