FOUR DEPARTMENTS FIGHT WASHINGTON CO. GRASS FIRE

  

It took local firefighters over three hours to extinguish a grass fire west of Brenham, Tuesday.

Just before noon, the Brenham Fire Department was called out to assist the Berlin Fire Department with a grass fire on Shady Acres Lane, just off Highway 290 West.

At the scene, firefighters found nearly an acre of land on fire in a heavily wooded area.

Mutual aid was provided by the Salem and Chappell Hill departments for manpower and equipment.

The fire was eventually extinguished after about three-and-a-half hours.

Officials have not released the cause of the fire.
