The team consisted of high point individual Weston Hinze, 9th high individual Chet Fritsch, Waylon Hinze and Tanna Thiel. According to FFA teacher Nicholas Herr, the state contest featured 81 teams and 319 individuals.
The contest featured seven placing classes including market steers, market hogs, market lambs, market goats, breeding ewes, breeding gilts and breeding heifers. It also consisted of slaughter grading and feeder cattle grading, along with three keep or cull classes over heifers, ewes and gilts. In addition, teams took a written test with 15 questions over the placing classes.
The team is no stranger to awards and accolades, as it has secured top finishes at numerous judging competitions. In online contests, the team placed first at Rodeo Austin, Aggiefest, NILE and Bexar County, while taking second at James Madison and East Central and third at Stephen F. Austin. In person, the team came in first for Angelo State University, Octoberfest and Leon County, as well as second for the Brazos County Youth Livestock Association and third for Tarleton State University.
