WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE PATROL RIFLE PURCHASE

Washington County Commissioners approved the purchase of new patrol rifles for several local constables at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Commissioners gave approval to the Precinct One Constable’s Office to purchase five patrol rifles, three of which will go to Precinct One, while the other two will be given to the Precinct Two and Four Constable’s offices.

Precinct One Deputy Constable William Shepherd said the rifles are being purchased using the trade-in of two older rifles and a pistol, as well as a $3,000 donation to Precinct One from local event venue Deep in the Heart Farms.

The total cost of the new rifles, before the $3,000 donation and $1,500 trade-in, was $6,674.  The remaining cost of $2,174 will be covered using funds from the budget of the Precinct Two and Four offices.
