BRENHAM ISD TRUSTEES SWORN IN, STUDENTS RECOGNIZED

The Brenham School Board welcomed its newest member at its meeting Monday.
New trustee Jared Krenek was sworn in after defeating longtime trustee Melvin Ehlert and fellow challenger Christine Giese in the May 1st election. Returning trustee Tommie Sullivan was also sworn in following his victory against challenger Michelle Walbeck, while Natalie Lange, who was unopposed, also received the oath of office.
Prior to swearing in the trustees, the board recognized Ehlert, who was not present at the meeting, for his 20 years of service on the board.
Trustees then moved to elect board officers. Lange and Susan Jenkins will retain their respective positions of board president and board secretary, while Sullivan will be the new board vice president.
Attention then shifted to several groups of outstanding students who were recognized at the meeting. Those students included the Marine Corps Junior ROTC program for its national championship victory in St. Louis, Missouri, the Brenham High School track team for its fifth place finish at state, and students in Ben Lewis’ Gateway Science and Social Studies class, who wrote and published a book titled The American Experience.
