FRIDAY DIII WORLD SERIES SOFTBALL GAMES DELAYED

 

FRIDAY: The second round contest between #4-Texas Lutheran and #1-DePauw has been pushed back a day due to inclement weather.

Rain washed out most of the schedule.  The game has been re-scheduled for Saturday morning at 8:45 in Salem, VA.

THURSDAY: Defending national champion Texas Lutheran rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to defeat Tufts (Mass.) 4-3 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship in Salem, VA.

Pinch-hitter Laura Hernandez delivered a game-tying home run and Rebecca Snow capped the rally with a walk-off single, scoring Brenham-native and All-American Kelly Jurden.

TLU won its 25th consecutive game of 2021 and improved to 33-4 overall. The Bulldogs will face No. 1 ranked DePauw (Ind.) at 3:30 p.m. Friday in a winner's bracket game.

Jurden was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and scored twice.
